Description

This black and white photograph features two men underneath a hoist. The hoist consists of three wood planks forming a tripod with a chain connected to a hoist that holds field jackets. The left of the photo shows a field jacket on top of a pulley. A field jacket is made up of burlap and plaster to surround the fossilized rock and bone. To the right of the pulley is a pile of field jackets. George F. Sternberg holds the chain that is pulling up a field jacket to put into a wooden crate box. The man next to him is watching Sternberg and stands with two wood planks next to his foot. Behind the two men and the hoist is a valley of outcrops. There is sagebrush surrounding the two men, hoist, and field jackets. George Sternberg is wearing a brimmed hat and suspenders with a button-up shirt. The man next to George Sternberg is wearing a cap, suspenders, button-up shirt, trousers, and boots.
