Description

This black and white photograph features the Sternberg camp on a rising Red Deer River in Alberta, Canada. Six crew members are standing on the front of the scow. The water level of the river is high. Large logs are floating in the river. The scow is near the riverbank. Hills are visible in the background on the opposite side of the river. Trees and many bushes are growing on the closer riverbank. The brush is pictured on the hills in the background. The sky is clear. George Sternberg and a teamster are in front holding large poles partially submerged in the water. Handwriting is below the photograph.

The river raised very rapidly on June 27th and we were kept very busy clearing away the drift wood from the front of our scow.
