Description

This black scrapbook page contains four black and white photographs from George Sternberg's photo album featuring a riverside camp. The campground is viewed from multiple perspectives through the various photographs. Photos on this page are sepia-toned, depicting the construction of this campsite on the river. All photos on this page include a handwritten inscription by George Sternberg. Beneath the four photos is a shorter alphanumeric cataloguing inscription for the page. All of the photos on the page relate to the building and establishment of their campsite on a raft, also known as a scow, on a river. All four black-and-white pictures are in the same region depicting one campsite. "George F. Sternberg, now working on behalf of the Geological Survey of Canada, operated a scow-based camp on the Red Deer River between Red Deer and the Munson ferry near Drumheller. Sternberg was assisted by Jacey Glen Mayberry (died ca. 1950; Mayberry 1985) from Red Deer, J.A. Smith, George Housten, and Peter A. Bungart (1876–1948). "
