Description

This black and white photograph features a portrait of a Black woman named Lela Scott - she is sitting in a wicker chair with an elbow on the arm of the chair and her hand by her jaw. She is wearing a long light dress. Elsie Scott (1889-1981) and Lela Scott (1889-1962) were twins, two of 17 children of John & Julia Scott. John & Julia were both ex-slaves who migrated to Stafford County after the Civil War & homesteaded near St. John. Elsie graduated St. John High School. Lela Scott ordered the photograph.
