Artist's Statement
Scream Until You're Empty is an interactive sculptural experience that invites viewers to confront and release their anger by writing down what makes them mad and casting it into the open vessel. This piece speaks to the unspoken, the emotions we suppress, the tension we swallow, the rage that simmers beneath the surface.
In a world that often demands composure over honesty, many of us are taught to minimize our frustration, to be palatable, polite, and silent. Some turn to trusted friends to unload the weight. Others carry it, quietly- until it erupts. This work asks: What does it mean to reach that breaking point? What shape does it take? What voice does it have?
Frozen in a scream, the face becomes a mirror- a reflection of collective and individual catharsis. As the papers pile up inside, the piece becomes heavier with shared fury, a literal accumulation of our burdens.
For artists, Scream Until You're Empty is a study in emotional architecture- in turning psychological weight into visual form, and using community participation as both medium and message. It challenges the boundaries of viewer and maker, demanding vulnerability, honesty, and release.
Does the scream ever stop? Or is the act of screaming the beginning of healing? So if you see this, ask yourself, What makes you mad? PM p pop
So, please write down what makes you mad and throw it in the jar.
