Artist's Statement
An innovative matching card game featuring stylish hand-drawn illustrations. They don't match in appearance, but through idioms such as "rule of thumb" and "once in a blue moon." Complete with 10 card matches, a sleek collage package design, and a game manual containing a list of these phrases, this project adds a fun and thought-provoking twist to the classic matching card genre. While intended to test the player's knowledge, it also provides an educational opportunity to learn regional phrases that may be otherwise confusing in their bizarre phrasing. In addition, the concept can be easily expanded to build linguistic proficiency in non-western languages and regions in future iterations. Eat Your Words is a satisfying game that will invigorate the mind with both its gameplay and eye-catching design.
