Artist's Statement

Since the AIDS crisis started in June 1981, and when created, roughly 88 million individuals were affected with HIV. The grid presented with the print is an 11 by 8 grid of condoms, each one representing roughly a million HIV-infected individuals. Each condom is placed on a grid, separated from each other but still able to move around slightly, causing a wave. United on a page, the condoms form a structured grid supporting themselves and the community built by the pandemic.
