Description

Fred Harvey Laundry. Bird's-eye view from roundhouse area east toward Main Street. "View From Top of Newton Roundhouse- 1955. Looking east along West Fourth Street. Fred Harvey Laundry is on the left at the bend of Fourth Street. Note the steam heat line on the rail extending up in the air and running along the south side of West Fourth Street from the power plant at the roundhouse to the tunnel under the street on the east side of the Fred Harvey Laundry. The open area south of the steam heat line and the first track contained two tracks where a large number of steam engines were boarded up and stored during the depression. -John Kliewer." Full resolution copies of this file are not available.
