Description
Roundhouse. "View of lower Garden in 1905. Behind the engine to the left are two wooden cabooses (waycars, hacks or crummeys) known as 'side-door pullmans' and 'no end porches' because you entered them from doors on their sides. Between the engine and the waycars is an old wooden Railway Post Office car. The engine to the right is moving on a tunnel stall track. The light spot inside of the roundhouse is the east tunnel stall with its doors open. Notice the 9' 5" wooden fence along the south roundhouse track and along West Fourth Street (a dirt road until about 1914). The dark object inside the north fence next to the roundhouse is the derrick ('wrecker' or 'big hook') with derrick outfit cars on this end. Outfit cars are now stored on Track No. 4 in front of the depot. - Mike Hurley, 1984." Full resolution copies of this file are not available.
