Typed description on back of photo: 'Newton. View looking west, south of Santa Fe Middle Division Office Building. Second Track, Eastbound Passenger Main, Original Main Line. White object (far right) is an insulated ice cart used to store ice for icing drinking fountains on passenger cars by the coach cleaners. Three more can be seen to the right. The four-wheeled truck to the left is a Railway Express truck known as a "high truck" as it was the same height as a baggage car door, allowing heavy objects to be transferred from one train to another without lifting. Sign with arrow reads, Western Union.' Far right, front of Fred Harvey Newsstand No. 2. Note: Water hose coiled and laying on platform. Joe Collier."
