Description

This color photograph features Sand Creek Freight Yards. 'This picture was taken from the overpass at the west end of the yards. The view is looking northeast toward the city of Newton along the south portion of the yards, approximately a mile and a half southwest of Newton. There are 15 main yard tracks. The longest track will hold 86 cars of average length. The empty track to the far right is the southwest coal track. The next track left, with the empty coal car, is the northwest coal track. These two tracks were also used for storage of extra gang cars. - Mike Hurley." Full resolution copies of this file are not available.
