Old and weathered, this piece is based on the Old English Shepherd breed and the human expression of dejection. While the breed itself is often a fluffy, go-lucky breed, this sculpture captures the breed in a dirty, saddened state. The texture on this piece reflects the matted, muddy texture of a once fluffy coat. Along with this, the figure leans forward as if in search of comfort with a forlorn expression. The included feminine features of the breasts anchor this piece in the human experience, representing the heavy, often weathered struggles that are inherently carried by women.
