Abstract
This Author Meets Critics panel features distinguished scholars in the field of gender-based violence responding to the work of Dr. Walter S. DeKeseredy, a leading voice in critical criminology and violence against women studies. Dr. DeKeseredy, the Anna Deane Carlson Endowed Chair of Social Sciences and Director of the Research Center on Violence at West Virginia University, brings decades of influential scholarship focused on intimate partner violence, masculinities, and structural inequality. The panel includes a diverse group of international experts—Dr. James Ptacek, Dr. Sandra Walklate, Dr. Callie M. Rennison, Dr. Sarah Wendt, and Dr. Claire Renzetti—each offering unique theoretical, methodological, and applied insights into the challenges and opportunities within the field. Together, they engage in a critical dialogue on restorative justice, intersectionality, rurality, data-informed policy, and survivor-centered approaches to violence intervention and prevention. This discussion provides an opportunity to evaluate, extend, and challenge the contributions of Dr. DeKeseredy's work within a global, interdisciplinary, and praxis-oriented context.
